GEN Technologies, an authorized partner of Rhino by McNeel, would like to inform customers that RhinoCAM 2026 is now available. RhinoCAM is a CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) plugin built directly on top of Rhino, helping CNC programmers, machinists and engineers generate toolpaths without leaving their modeling environment. The plugin covers 2½, 3, 4 and 5-axis toolpath creation, simulation and post-processing, and ships with modules for MILL, TURN, NEST and ART.

What's New in 2026

This release is built around two themes: raw performance and automation for advanced multi-axis work. A new 5-Axis 3+2 Auto-Roughing module analyzes the part and stock model on its own, works out the most efficient machining orientations, and builds the indexed setups and adaptive roughing toolpaths automatically — with no control geometry to select by hand. Users can let it generate full toolpaths or just the setups, then refine the rest manually.

RhinoCAM 2026 also adds 4-axis extrusion machining, which builds a toolpath by extruding a profile curve along a rail without needing a full 3D model, plus a projection variant that maps the same logic onto an actual surface or mesh for more complex parts. A new 2½ axis automatic deburring operation detects sharp edges on a part and breaks them using standard ball mills, with full gouge checking against fixtures and part geometry.

Faster Simulation

The headline performance upgrade is GPU-accelerated tri-dexel simulation, a new cut-material simulation method that runs on Nvidia graphics hardware instead of the CPU. According to MecSoft's own benchmarks, it renders material removal roughly 5 to 10 times faster than the previous polygonal method, with the speed advantage growing as the toolpath gets more complex, while keeping visual accuracy close to the old approach. The release also brings arc feedrate optimization for smoother cornering, smarter drill point sorting across separate operations, expanded Python-based post-processor support, and RhinoCAM API improvements aimed at integrators automating custom workflows.

Where to Get It

RhinoCAM 2026 runs as a plugin for Rhino on Windows. Existing customers with an active license can access the update through MecSoft, and the plugin is also listed on food4Rhino. Please review the current system requirements before installing the update on a production machine.
